Messy yet necessary a short essay on dodgy Guts.

After just having another 4 days in hospital due to a massive cyst rupture causing massive internal bleeding and more damage to my existing spinal cord damage thankfully avoiding emergency surgery  , my guts are well and truly on MF fire . With the impact of countless pills , injections , pills up the bum and enforced starvation and hydration delivered via the wonderful bowel prep im sure you can imagine one guts screaming for some healthy bacteria. 

Many of you know this ain’t my first rodeo , the only treatment for aggressive endo being hospital admission to the oncology ward at king eddy for days on end to get things back down to a baseline. As any graceful woman I take it all very much in my stride making the best of a shitty situation ,coupled with much gratitude for the medical interventions that are available to me as many are not afforded the same luxury.

For years I have had to bounce back from admission after admission with years of trial and error , what I have found to be the most restorative and curative for gut health post atomic shit inducing bomb is always a natural nutritional protocol. So I will share a few easy and cheap methods to get my guts back in order without needing to take out a second mortgage on the house.

My first go is Miso Soup. If I can get someone to sneak it into the hospital that’s also preferred , as you can if you need to take this in a clear liquid fasting situation just don’t tell the doctors πŸ˜‰ Miso soup offers numerous health benefits for women, especially due to its rich nutritional profile. Made from fermented soybeans, miso is a great source of probiotics, which support gut health and boost the immune system. It’s also high in essential vitamins and minerals, such as B vitamins, zinc, and iron, which are important for energy levels and overall well-being. Miso soup is low in calories, making it a healthy option for maintaining a balanced diet, while its isoflavones, derived from soy, may help support hormonal balance, especially during menopause.

Keeping your refined sugars as low as possible is also a great idea. Minimizing refined sugars is important for women and gut health because excessive sugar intake can disrupt the balance of gut microbiota, leading to issues like bloating, inflammation, and poor digestion. Refined sugars can also contribute to insulin resistance, increasing the risk of hormonal imbalances, weight gain, and metabolic disorders. By reducing refined sugars and avoiding the temptations , we can support a healthier gut environment, improve nutrient absorption, and maintain overall hormonal and metabolic health.

Any pickled foods such as kimchi , sauerkraut or well made greek yogurt if you can handle them are going to be fantastic and cheap ways to slowly get the guts back to a baseline , from a prescriptive point of view its very much a β€œ fuck around and find out β€œ method kimchi can be to aggressive as it dose contain chilli and some may not handle dairy. So if you have not taken any of the above with care and in small amounts if you have dodgy guts.

I do find aloe vera juice to be very cooling and adaptive keeping things moving without that stabby feeling , Aloe vera juice is beneficial for our gut health due to its soothing and anti-inflammatory properties. It helps support digestion by promoting the production of digestive enzymes, which can ease symptoms like bloating and constipation. Aloe vera also contains prebiotics, which nourish the beneficial bacteria in the gut, fostering a healthy balance in the microbiome. Additionally, its hydrating properties help maintain a healthy digestive system, aiding in overall gut function and reducing inflammation, making it an excellent natural remedy for women’s gut health.

It goes without saying that hydration with quality filtered water is an absolute must along with adequate rest and self love and don’t β€œ butt shame β€œ yourself either, nothing good comes from that . Do what you can when you can and try one thing at a time.
